Corn Yield Forecast – Iowa September 2013

Current USDA-NASS Iowa corn yield forecast is for 162 bushels per acre. That is one bushel below the August forecast and almost 17 bushels (9.4%) below the 30-year trendline yield of 179 bushels per acre. The U.S. forecast yield is 155.3 bu/acre which is only 3 bu/acre (1.8%) below the 30-year trendline, 158 bu/acre. These numbers will be fine-tuned in later forecasts this fall with final yields reported in January.
